I believe it is possible to be both a mother and have a successful career.​ I credit many of my successes to my son, he inspires me to be greater and I try to set an example for him that through hard work, passion and dedication you can achieve anything you set your mind to. In my family we have a saying ‘You have only failed if you didn’t have a go’.
• I am a small business owner and operator of Bates Equestrian Pty Ltd. I have built my life around the sport I love and would now like to take it one step further by competing at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon. As a business owner I understand the importance of branding and maintaining a positive public image. • I have the maturity to understand that there may be disappointments but that it is more important to focus on the solutions when setbacks are presented.  One of the greatest things about becoming a mother is the perspective I now have on life – that ultimately there is always a bigger picture and I have bigger responsibilities than myself.

• I always try to give back to the sport and community I love. I am a regular volunteer, helping to run and organise events from beginners to National competitions.  I want to ensure that my sport remains strong for the future stars of tomorrow.
